Lives and works in Malmö, SE

Serap Kocacenk, born in Malmö, Sweden in 1979, is a contemporary artist who divides her time between her hometown and her studio in Turkey. Her artistic journey, though spanning only a few years professionally, has been marked by rapid progression and notable achievements.

Kocacenk’s work is characterized by an expressive visual language and a strong abstract foundation, with her gestural, bold, and large-scale contemporary paintings earning her recognition. However, her artistic repertoire is not limited to grand canvases. Kocacenk also creates small and medium-sized works, each infused with the same vibrant energy and attention to detail, making them equally sought after by collectors.

Her pieces have been acquired by discerning collectors, finding homes in both national and international private collections, as well as being featured in Swedish hospitals. Notably, her artwork “A Cry for Help” was selected as the cover for Dag Ekner’s book “Kampen för livet” in 2024.

Kocacenk has participated in duo and group exhibitions in Sweden and Turkey, including shows at the City Hall in Malmö and Nis Art Gallery in Istanbul. Looking ahead, 2025 is set to be a milestone year as she prepares for her first solo exhibition, a culmination of years of dedication and artistic exploration. This upcoming event promises to captivate audiences with her dynamic and evocative works, marking a significant chapter in her flourishing career.
