Serap Kocacenk

A space you recognize, before you understand why.

About

Serap Kocacenk is a Swedish–Turkish contemporary artist working between Malmö and Istanbul.

Her works are held in private and institutional collections across Europe, the United States, and Australia.

They move through resonance, not volume.

Kocacenk works within emotional abstraction.

Her paintings are not descriptive.
They hold presence.

Through layered surfaces and controlled intensity, each piece carries a psychological and energetic charge, meeting the viewer where language no longer operates.

Working between cultures informs the foundation of her practice.

Not as narrative, but as sensitivity.
As perception.
As an ability to hold multiple realities at once.

This tension is not explained in the work, it is felt.

Her process follows the pace required by each piece.

Nothing is rushed. Nothing is forced.
The work settles, accumulates, and resolves on its own terms.

In 2024, her artwork A Cry for Help was featured on the cover of the book Kampen för livet by Dag Ekner.

Her works are also placed within healthcare and institutional environments, where they function as emotional anchors rather than objects.

Each painting is created as a living presence.

Not to be consumed, but to be lived with.

A limited number of works are released.

Some are never shown publicly.

Collectors find the work when it meets them.
